About University of Strathclyde

The University of Strathclyde is a public research university located in Glasgow, Scotland. In 1796 it was recognized as the first technological university in the United Kingdom and is the third largest in Scotland regarding the number of students. It offers adiversity of subjects, but is focused on technological and scientific studies and also on health, manufacturing and energy research.

The University has recently been announced as Times Higher Education University of the Year 2019. They are the only university to be awarded the UK-wide award for a second time. The University of Strathclyde have also been recognised as Scottish University of the Year 2020 by the Sunday Times Good University Guide, and were awarded the Queen’s Anniversary Prize, the highest national honour awarded to their sector.

Strathclyde students are set to enjoy a new £60 million Learning & Teaching building due for completion in 2020 which will be located in the centre of the campus. Designed with students and staff in mind, the hub will include leading-edge teaching facilities as well as providing a new home for student support services and the Students’ Union.

Following a £1 billion campus investment, a brand new £31 million Strathclyde Sport centre has opened. The sport centre provides a range of health and wellbeing facilities for students, staff and the local community. The Centre offers state-of-the art training facilities, including a 25-metre swimming pool, fitness suite with capacity for over 180 people, sports halls, squash courts, dance studio and treatment rooms.
